Muir's Water Ouzel

This recently finished painting is inspired by John Muir's story of his interactions and admiration of the American Dipper bird, also known as Water Ouzel. Perfectly content dipping into ice cold pools in the Mountain ranges of California, this little courageous bird dips and bobs about seeming to dance to the music of a stream, it is quite the character to behold. This is an Oil painting, 24x36" on board mounted linen. A representation of John Muir can be seen in the foreground along with a Quaking Aspen as he observes the Dipper in the icy stream of a scene inspired by one of his favorite places, Yosemite Valley. The painting was finished in July of 2024, after starting it 4 years prior.
