Brent was born in Sonoma County, CA and has lived there most of his life among the rolling hills and graceful Oaks.  He has always been drawn to the land and its beauty, whether to seek refuge from the distractions of life, or to pick up a sketch book and learn from its nature.  Brent has painted in oils and has been drawing for many years, even as a young child and graduated from the Academy of Art in San Francisco in 2007 with a major in illustration and a minor in fine arts.

More recently he has been inspired by the Eastern arts, in particular ancient Chinese, who rendered in inks on expressive oriental papers like silk and mulberry.  In contrast to traditional western art, which often focuses on external beauty and photo-realistic rendering, eastern, and especially ancient Chinese art seeks to express a deeper meaning behind the subject.  Using spirituality or a close relationship with nature the artist seeks to express a harmony with the oneness that connects us all.  Painting with brush, inks and paint, on paper and canvas: building structure, giving form to the formless and often unexplainable.  Painting becomes a means to communicate and share feelings and thoughts- emotions about one's subject.   It is the artist's offering of gratitude to the creator and insight for this life.  When the artist's mind is free the brush then is simply just a means to render that expression, one that is in harmony.
